BIOGRAPHY

Harold Wright, nicknamed "Seldom" by his Crane High School buddies. He grew up in Crane and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert G. Wright. Every one knew him as a happy go lucky guy. He was always in a good mood, he was ready to go along with the crowd. He never met a stranger. While in high school he worked at Webb Grocery store, now Circle M, as a checker and stocker. Harold was not awned by grown-ups and would always say what was on his mind, it was usually something funny.

Crane High School-1962

Harold never really liked school, he saw it as something he had to get through, he usually slept through class or was breaking the class up with a joke. As soon as he got out of Crane High School in 1963, he went to work in the oilfield and followed in his dad's footsteps. Harold worked hard and in the West Texas manner of speech, "He was a good hand." Harold was drafted into the U.S. Army and took his good spirits and humor with him. He arrived in Vietnam in September, 1966. He was assigned as a mortar crewman with C Company, 2 Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division.

In Vietnam-1966

He was killed ten months later by a Viet Cong booby trap. He was buried in Crane with full military honors. The Medical Professional Building in Crane is permanently dedicated in his honor.

Kenneth Wright's name on Wall-Name above "Gene Vaughn" was from Big Spring, Tx

Harold is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert G. Wright of Commanche, Texas, his brother, Norman and sister Carolyn E. Luckie, also of Commanche, Texas and his sister, Mary K. Dean of Crane.
